Presence Film
Soderbergh challenges his directorial skills with this clever paranormal narrative shot entirely from the viewpoint of a ghost. After a clan featuring mother Rebekah and her distressed teen Chloe moves into their recent residence, the lens – representing the ghost – follows them around. The daughter appears aware of the ghostly being, and the entity appears guarding her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that doesn't outstay its welcome, with a twist that could catch you off guard. Saturday 11 October, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema Premiere

This Creepy Thriller
The director's claustrophobic thriller stands strong without requiring a sequel. Located in the late 70s in Denver, a series of child abductions has made the local kids anxious. After Finney is taken by the villain and locked up in a cellar, he anticipates a terrible outcome. However, the non-functional line in the room continues to ring, with spooky callers providing assistance, while the prophetic visions from his sibling Gwen might rescue him. An effective horror. October 11th, 10.50pm, the Film4 channel
The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between faith and wealth, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's delightfully tacky true story about the fallen TV preacher and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about profiting from the people's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain manages to depict the real-life figure with compassion. Next Tuesday, late night, the Film4 channel
