Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
