Seamer Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

The right-arm seamer felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

Team management stated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the series beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

The visitors have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, taking just three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, then making 28 as a batsman being one of only three England players to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back the next day and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of that over, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

Atkinson was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
