Sweden Selection Announcement: Alexander Isak Named Whereas Gyokeres Misses Out
Viktor Gyokeres signed with Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon in July
Arsenal forward Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted from Graham Potter's initial Sweden team selection, while Reds striker Alexander Isak secured selection
The Arsenal forward is scheduled for more medical tests in the coming days following worries he sustained a muscle problem in Arsenal's Premier League win against the Clarets on Saturday
Gyokeres sat out the Gunners' Champions League victory versus Slavia Prague earlier this week
Isak Returns
Isak, who has been sidelined from late October due to a groin problem, was selected to play in World Cup qualifying matches versus the Swiss team (November 15th) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)
Other England-based Selections
- Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, who is recovering from concussion
- Magpies winger the Swedish international
Both athletes feature in the England-based players selected by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach Graham Potter
The New Manager's Appointment
Potter was appointed by Sweden originally for an interim period on 20 October, under four weeks following he was dismissed by West Ham
Previous coach the Danish coach lost his job after the national team's 1-0 loss to the Kosovan team on 13 October, an outcome that ended direct progression in qualifying group impossible
Present Situation
The Swedish team find themselves bottom of their qualifying group with only a single point from their opening four games
Even if they fail to secure second place, they could still be involved in the World Cup play-offs as a result of their results during the previous UEFA competition
