Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year as a result of the illness that has affected her for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories this year and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
